The village of Považany was created by the merger of three historical settlements: Mošovce, Svätý Kríž and Vieska, which have a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Holy Cross was first mentioned in 1297 and was known for its church built by the Crusaders. Mošovce, recorded as early as 1263, was a busy community of farmers and craftsmen. The village, mentioned in 1368, survived centuries of floods, while its inhabitants were engaged in agriculture and milling.
It is in Vieska that our site, Chateau Považany, is located.
